These sesame bagel bread rings are traditionally eaten in the streets of Israel while shopping in the open markets. All ages enjoy this tasty toasty sesame bagel ring. Try it with some Za’atar seasoning, or dip in some hummus or tahini. It compliments a casual meal or enjoy as a snack on it’s own.

Ingredients
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 cup warm water
- 1 tablespoon dry yeast
- 2 eggs
- 2 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 3-1/2 cups (about) all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons salt
- Topping:
- ½ cup sesame seeds and/or poppy seeds
- 1 egg, beaten
Instructions
- Dissolve dry yeast in warm water.
- In a separate larger bowl combine the eggs, oil, salt and sugar.
- Then add the water and yeast to the larger bowl.
- Add flour until mixture is soft and easy to handle, but not sticky.
- Knead dough for approximately 10 minutes.
- Cover bowl with towel and keep in warm place until dough doubles in size.
- Take a handful of dough and roll into a long log.
- Then roll the log across sesame seeds and/or poppy seeds until the entire roll is covered.
- Form an oblong circle and pinch the ends together.
- Place the ring onto a baking sheet and let rise for at least an hour.
- Then brush a beaten egg over the top of the rings and place into the oven at 400 degrees until the bread is golden brown.
