My M&M Cookie Bars are perfect for kids and those who are young at heart. They combine classic sugar cookie dough and yummy M&M’s to create a soft and chewy cookie bar treat. This recipe is flexible in that you can substitute the M & M’s for chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, white chocolate chips, nuts, dried fruit or any combination. Perfect for lunchboxes, birthday parties, weeknight desserts or afternoon snacks. Serve with an ice cold glass of milk and enjoy.

Ingredients
- 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- ½ tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 1 ½ cups white sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup peanut butter M&M’s or regular M&M’s
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
- In a small bowl, stir together flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth.
- Beat in egg and vanilla. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients.
- Fold in M&M’s.
- Press cookie dough into a greased 9 x 13 baking dish and bake for about 30 minutes or until golden brown on top.
- Allow to cool before slicing into squares.
